In Sichuan Province of western China, there is a river runs throughout Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from north towards south, called Yalong River. It is 1,571KM long, and originates from the famous Bayan Har Mountain Range and finally empties into Yangtze River. It passes through sixteen autonomous counties within two minority autonomous prefectures, which covers Serxu, Dege, Gantse, Xinlong, Litang, Yajiang, Kangding, Jiulong in Kham Tibetan area and Muli, Yanyuan, Mianning, Xichang, Dechang, Miyi and Yanbian in Liangshan Yi ethnic group area.

Yajiang River Valley is the sources from where the ancient Chinese woman culture had originated. The precious women cultural relics like Moving Marriage System and Polyandry System still exist in the valley. Beside this, there are Whelk Valley which is the rarely modern glacier with low altitude (2,850m), ancient Gongga Mountain Glacier, Chola Mountain Glacier and large scale glacier Genyen Mountain Glacier. Magnificent mountains are rolling throughout the Valley, such as Mingya Gongga Mountain (7,556m), Chola Mountain (6,168m), Genyen Mountain (6,240m). Clear and mirrorly alps lakes which are Muge Tso Lake, Xinluhai Lake, Wuxuhai Lake, Renzhonghai Lake, Qionghai Lake will bring you into a quiet but pure natural surroundings. Grasslands with kinds of flowers dotted overland, such as Serxu Swamp Grand Grassland, Litang Grand Grassland, Tagong Grand Grassland, Zoige Grassland and Xichang Basin. Besides rich natural sceneries, this area also with dense folk custom and long history. There are a lot of Tibetan Buddhism Monasteries, such as Dege Press-Pringting House, Babam Monastery, Zhuqing Monastery, Gatuo Monastery, Litang Monastery and Muli Monastery. In addition, you can get a chance to appreciate dense and colorful folk custom of Tibetan and Yi, especially when blossom season, there will be hold Tibetan Horse Racing Festival and Yi Torch Festival.

Yajiang River Valley has rich fish resources. Its lower reaches, namely the portion of Yalong / Golden River Pass / Anning, teem with rare and particular Chinese Sucker (Myxocyprinus Asiaticus), which lives in middle and bottom of water. Its maximum weight will amount to 30kg or above. Since it has the bright body color and can change it in different surroundings, Chinese Sucker has gradually become one of new kinds of fishes for display. And fishing bait are mainly the small living beings, among which earthworm is the best one for fishing Chinese Sucker. All the baits can be gained from the local spot. In addition, other synthetic baits also can be chosen for fishing. It is unnecessary to use more professional fishing tackle but nine inch fishing pole and 10 pound weight fishing line (floating or sinking).

The main fishing area in Xichang, where it's like spring all the year round. The annual average temperature is 17.2, and annual sunshine time can reach to 2,430 hours. Due to the extremely fresh air and bright and clear moon at night sky, Xichang is also called Moon City. You can go fishing here four seasons. If you fishing in each May, June and July, you can not only fishing, but also can appreciate the Tibetan Horse Racing Festival and the Yi Torch Festival, and watch flower in Luoji Mountain.

Yi Torch Festival: Yi is one of oldest ethnic groups in China. The traditional Torch Festival is held at Xichang every year. People will be happy as they like during this time. In the day, they will participate in the sports activities such as horse racing, bull fighting and wrestling. At night, thousands people will hold the torches to parade on the street, which is spectacular in the moon city.

Tibetan Horse Racing Festival: Tibetan traditional Horse-Racing Festival has a long history, and it is the greatest festival among annual traditional festivals of Tibetans. The difference between horse racing festival and other religious or folk events is that features on whole-family participation, tremendous scene and most thriving nationality customs. Tibetans mainly lead a living on graze. Friends and relatives rarely have chances to gather together. Daily necessities are also rarely bought in materials exchange places. In order to adapt to and meet herdsmen's live demand, long long ago, Tibetans used to make appointments to gather together in the season when flowers blossom(i.e., the end of July or beginning of August every year). Many interesting activities including horse racing festival is held during this time.

Flower Watching: Since the climate and geographical conditions in Xichang are good to plants, there are flowers in every corner of the city as well as in each family house. As the staple plants planted in Xichang, Pavetta is exported to countries in Europe and America. Luoji Mountain in Xichang is well-known for its precious azaleas, they are: R. Decorum R. Williamsianum, R. Lacteum, R. Fulvoides, R. Yunnanensis ect., which are perennial arbor. Some of them are more than 10 meters high, whilst R. Oreotrephes is only less than 10cm, which looks delicate and exquisite. From early spring to mid-summer, all kinds of azaleas blossom one after another, which become a sea of flowers.
